Preparing For A Photoshoot

Preparing for a shoot can be a bit of an overwhelming experience. I know firsthand how stressful it can be to prepare all my outfits and accessories that I want to be captured in and to make sure I’m feeling energized and photo ready! I’ve been modeling and doing many different types of photoshoots for about 10 years now and the preparation process is always a little bit stressful.

A good tip I can share with you guys is to make sure you rest prior to the photoshoot. When you feel your best, you will look your best. Conserve your energy and maybe book a spa day or a massage a few days before so you can feel relaxed and ready to shine in front of the camera. If you’re investing money in a photoshoot, you want to make sure that the photos come out looking amazing and exactly how you envisioned it. This is super important for you as the model and for me as the photographer.

Another important tip is to practice posing in the mirror. This might feel weird and awkward at first but I promise it helps a ton. Put on some of your favorite music and start posing! Loosen up your body so you don’t feel so tense. Dance it out and strike some sexy, confident poses. Practice your facial expressions and have fun with the process. Sometimes we can get so caught up in achieving “perfection” and trying to control outcomes, but creativity is boundless. There are no rules and the goal is to enjoy the moment that we’re creating together.

The last and final tip is to let go of outcomes and to HAVE FUN. Without enjoyment, your soul essence can’t be captured on camera. Don’t overthink what the photoshoot will be like or how it will turn out - just flow and trust that it’ll be exciting and that your creative vision will come true!
